Benchmark leaks have become unofficial sources which sometimes give us roughly accurate information about the hardware specifications of upcoming smartphones and tablets. Another addition to this source of information is the hardware powering the LG Optimus G2, a successor to the recently launched Optimus G.

The information about the G2 comes from GLBenchmark, which suggest that smartphone will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset. The specifications hint that the LG Optimus G2 D801 sports a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) processor, 2GB RAM and the Adreno 330 GPU. It will house a full HD 1920x1080 pixel display. The size of the display is still unknown. Straight out of the box, the device will run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. It is also expected to house a 13MP rear-facing camera and a front-facing camera for video chatting.

The leaked information also suggests that the G2 will come to the US via T-Mobile.

In India, LG hasn’t been able to grab a stellar market share when it comes to the flagship smartphones. It recently launched the LG Optimus G, which we think is a fantastic device despite its few shortcomings. We have also seen HTC’s flagship smartphone, the Butterfly launch in India and boast of the Snapdragon 600 chipset. One version of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4 will also be powered by the Snapdragon 600 chipset where as another model will be powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 5 Octa chipset.

What remains to be seen is what added features does LG bring to the table with the Optimus G2 considering the fact that every manufacturer is gunning for the best specifications under the hood.
